Today we fetched our boxes from New Zealand, I'm relieved to finally have them in my possession because I was quite worried when the number of weeks they were overdue increased. Everything went smooth when we got them but some of the boxes were in pretty bad shape. One of the boxes was mended with tape and some of the content was almost hanging out of it!

The whole thing has been kind of stressful and here is a list of things to think of when sending stuff from NZ to Sweden.

1. Don't trust your shipping company when they give you an arrival date. Our stuff arrived about 6 weeks late.

2. When selecting a shipping company and you want your stuff shipped quickly, be prepared to cough it up.

3. Get good quality boxes. Let's say it like this: they don't handle the boxes like porcelain...also use lots of tape and strengthen all the edges.

4. Stuff your boxes to the max. You're not guaranteed to end up in the top of the pile. If it's not stuffed you risk ending up with a pretty messed up box.

5. Watch out for moist! If you have sensitive stuff; make sure to put it in a plastic bag and seal it properly.

6. Put lots of padding around sensitive stuff.

7. Once the stuff has arrived, it takes about a week to process it and make it accessible for you.

8. If you're moving back you have to prove that you've been away for over a year.

9. Get insurance for your stuff, check point 3 above...

10. Be prepared to pay up twice, once for the shipping company and the people who handles it on this side of the world. We were told an approximation of the total cost by the shipping company we used...but the total cost was about twice as high!

We were quite lucky that things didn't break more than they did!
Right now I'm just happy that I got more underwear (had to travel light through Asia) and some other stuff that I've been missing for 3 months :)
