Today didn't play out as planned, some central parts of Bangkok was explored by Tuk Tuk. We were suppose to go to the palace but got convinced to take the Tuk Tuk because the Palace wouldn't open for another 2 hours...they probably lied to us but the Tuk Tuk was only 20 baht for two people and we got to see some cool buildings and Buddhas, one Buddha was 15 meters high and covered in "gold".
Apparently the government here is trying to help the country's economy by promoting Bangkok to tourists by giving access to buildings and monuments which usually are closed for the public and it's all free. Gas is also free so tourists can catch taxis and tuk tuks for very little money something we of course used today :) Later in the afternoon we met up with Robert and Sylvia, a couple from Holland whom we met in Viet Nam. We had some food and then played some pool. They're really cool and have been out traveling for 9 months! We're in the same situation of returning home very soon to start all over again. Tomorrow we'll head for a shopping spree :) |
