Bumpy Ride

This morning we caught the bus to the Thai border. We've been told that it's a ride through hell but I didn't think it was too bad part from one thing. There are very few asfalted roads in Cambodia which means you're travelling on sand and gravel and it is really really dusty. That would have been fine if it hadn't been for the bus air conditioning not working which meant that everyone had their windows open.
So now I'm sitting here in Bangkok with half of Cambodia in my lungs.
The bus was in a really bad condition and I was afraid everytime the driver changed gear because it sounded like the bus was falling apart.
The trip took a total of about 7 hours including a flat tire and man was I happy to get off the bus and switch to a doubledecker with aircon at the Thai border!
The rest of the trip was quite pleasant and I listened to music for the first time in 3 weeks :)

Thailand is very different from where I've been for the past 3 weeks, the country side looks like Poland did in the middle of the 90ies with constructions everywhere, their roads are good and there are real motorways. Bangkok looks like any big western city and even though I've only seen a tiny bit at night time I already like it :)

There has been an upswing in Thai economy since we last checked so everything is a bit more expensive than expected but it's still cheap compared to what I'm used to :)
I had a real Pad Thai for dinner, mmmmumma :) Time is running out, I'll blog more some other day!
